This and so many other sessions had to be rescheduled because as we all know, Winter arrived almost 3 months too late. Winter Wonderland sessions were high in demand, and I am so glad that so many of my Clients decided to wait for snow. Because the photos we took during our time spent together just wouldn't be the same without all that beautiful white on the ground and in the background. This location in Spokane Valley is my absolute favorite spot for Winter Photos. Why? Because of THIS view!
I had been looking forward to this session for months, the very first photo in this blog post is why ... Lindsey called me and explained what she wanted out of her maternity session. She told me that she was expecting a "rainbow baby".
A rainbow baby is a baby born after a miscarriage, stillborn, or neonatal death. The understanding is that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravage of the storm. When a rainbow baby appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds.
This family wanted a photo to reflect just that. And the image below is exactly what I visualized when they asked for my help. I am so glad I was able to use my skills to make this beautiful photo happen. A portrait to commemorate the life lost and to celebrate the one that's about to come.
The family specifically requested one photo with the rainbow edit, but of course we took other images during the time we spent together.
Earlier this year I had my very first maternity session of 2019. We decided on Mirabeau Park in Spokane Valley, because it is one of my favorite locations to photograph families.
The picturesque landscape, the beautiful mountain views and the woods there are just to die for! I will always recommend this location - because it has everything you can wish for, photography wise.
We started our session with photos of the soon to be mom by herself on the Centennial Trail. One of my favorite spots in this whole park. Sara chose the perfect outfit for this winter maternity session. The snow on the mountains and on the ground was the cherry on top! I'm a huge fan of the timeless look this location provides.
Saras husband joined us for a few photos and I am so glad he did! The photos of the two of them are my favorite. I love couples photography, especially when it comes to maternity photos.
After shooting on the centennial trail, we moved onto my second favorite spot at Mirabeau Park, where you can overlook the Spokane River!
And, to finish their session, we waited for the sun to sit just low enough to give us this beautiful effect - I love creating photos like these! This happens when the sun shines through trees and bushes, and when you have a shallow depth of field (done in camera).
