Barbara contacted me about a family/senior session that she wanted done. She mentioned that she would really like to wear their Dirndl and Lederhosen for a few photos to commemorate their stay in Germany. After she described the kind of backgrounds she was hoping for, I went out and scouted for the perfect locations that met all her criteria: Sunflowers, Stone Walls and Vista View. Sounds hard to find, but here in Germany? Piece of Cake!
Once Barbara told me that she lives in Pressath - which is my hometown, where I was born and grew up in and where I currently live as well - I immediately knew where I was going to take her and her family. I suggested we take her photos right here in our little town and Barbara LOVED that idea.
Although I have lived in Pressath most of my life, a few days before our session I scouted each spot I was planning on taking them to, so that I could see what time the light would be the prettiest in each location and plan accordingly. I pride myself on knowing a location front and back. I want to know what it looks like at sunset and at each season. I knew what to expect when arriving because I had already inspected all the spots beforehand. Based on what I discovered during my time spent scounting locations, we decided to start our session at the sunflower field that I found close by and then move onto the urban part Barbara and her family wished for.
They loved it all and kept repeating how they couldn't have imagined a better place for their photos. They wanted a memory of their time spent in Germany. Taking their photos in the town they live in was such a great way to do that. Barbara loved all these beautiful locations I took them to, some spots they had walked by every day, other spots they had never seen and were happy to discover. Our session turned into a little guided city tour that I ,as a local, was happy to give to them. Barbara kept oohing and aahing in satisfaction and excitement about all the backdrops I had chosen to take their photos in front of.
I so loved seeing this family for the first time, getting to know them and witnessing their closeness first hand. I am so very glad I was able to help document this special time for them here in Germany! Here are my favorite shots from their family photo session in Pressath, Bavaria, Germany!
